Pole tilt sensor
Did you know weather-related outages cost up to an estimated $70 billion in revenue every year?
We all know the pain of losing telephone service or electricity. When storms or natural disasters knock over telephone poles or light poles, it can take days before they are restored by local teams.
One of the biggest time and money drains for companies responsible for this service is locating the downed pole. On some occasions, response teams spend more time searching for the poles than actually working on fixing them.
What if there was a device that could monitor environmental data so not only could teams predict possible downed poles, but that also tracks the orientation of poles and their location so response teams know exactly where to go?
-
The lack of real-time tracking for telephone, light, or power poles combined with no environmental data causes recovery teams to waste time finding which downed pole caused the issue.
-
First, build a sensor that monitors the incline of poles. Additionally, design an alert system that would notify the proper team when a pole was slanted or downed.
-
Together with our partners, ACD successfully designed, tested, assembled, and finalized an advanced pole tilt sensor with the ability to monitor both inclines and environmental situations to keep local service providers informed on the status of their poles all while decreasing labor costs.
