Sourcing

Global sourcing is essential to the design and manufacturing of any product in the competitive consumer space.  Shown is an example of a typical electronic product that ACD is capable of not only designing but also sourcing to leverage world class pricing, quality, and lead time.  We have at least one world class source for every component shown in this picture.

Stereolithography (SLA) or Object Plastic

  • Low-density plastic representation of parts
  • Typical lead time 1 or 2 working days
  • Limited strength, flexibility, and colors
  • Useful for limited form and fit evaluation of plastic designs

Object Rubber

  • Tango FLX 9xx series shock absorption, vibration dampening material used to simulate rubber surfaces or overmolds
  • Typical lead time is 1 or 2 working days
  • Limited ductility, strength
  • Available in assorted colors and durometers (hardness)
  • Useful for limited form and fit evaluation of rubber designs

Polyurethane Casting (Rubber Casting)

  • Mid density polyurethane representation of plastic or rubber parts
  • Typical lead time 5 working days
  • Similar strength to most plastic parts
  • As a thermoset (cannot be remelted) it does not work well for heat stakes or welding
  • Excellent strength, flexibility and colors
  • Useful for form and fit evaluation of plastic designs

Injection Molding/Gas Assist Molding etc

  • Cost effective way to produce low to high volume plastic parts
  • Parts must be very carefully designed to facilitate the molding process (material, shape, features etc.)
  • Typical lead time is 2-6 weeks (depending on part complexity)
  • Excellent material range and properties, colors, ductility, and strength
  • Available in assorted colors, durometers (hardness), and non-slip finishes (2 Shot)

CNC, NC, Electroforming

  • Cost effective to low volume metals and plastics
  • Can be optimized for high volume applications
  • Typical lead time 4-14 working days
  • Variety of material and intecrate shapes
  • Surface finish can be achieved through sandblasting, polishing, etc
  • Useful for prototype evaluation, fixtures or high end production parts

Compression Molding (Silicone Rubber)

  • Cost effective for low to high volume parts
  • Can be inserted molded (metals, flexes, etc) with careful design
  • Typical lead time is 1-3 weeks (depending on part complexity)
  • Excellent material range and properties, colors, ductility, and strength

Composite Forming 

  • Achieve “natural” intricate looks and feel
  • Can be optimized for any volume applications
  • Typical lead time 2-3 weeks
  • Careful consideration should be given to design and tolerances (depending on material)
  • Kevlar, wood (numerous types), carbon fibre etc.

Diecuts and  Packaging 

  • Low to High volume parts die-cutters, lightning fast turnaround
  • Design and artwork, custom or standard
  • Typical lead time is 1-10 days
  • Labels, mesh, pads, manuals, retail boxes, clamshells, thermal-spreaders
  • Assorted finishes, UV treatment, corona treatment.
